Nov. 3, 2023 — Wichita State University is home to nearly 5,000 first-generation students, individuals whose caregivers weren't able to complete a college degree and who lack the firsthand experience to tackle college life. To help with their transition, Wichita State offers a number of resources to first-gen students to support them during their time in college, including F1RST GEN SHOCKERS.

Oct. 5, 2023 - As part of the Memorial ’70 ceremony, football players, friends and families from those years received a piece of Cessna Stadium seating. Former WSU Foundation Vice President Mike Lamb proposed the idea to preserve some of the stadium and share it with the Memorial ’70 group.

Sept. 27, 2023 — Wichita State University's efforts to transform the educational experience for students and redefine the role of a university to foster statewide economic growth have yielded remarkable results: the highest enrollment in its 128-year history.

Sept. 25, 2023 - Rudd Scholar Bayle Sandy found a sense of community at Wichita State University and enjoyed support from many sources for her academic and extracurricular pursuits. Wichita State is proud of its role helping Rudd Scholars pursue passions and realize dreams in the state’s largest city.

Sept. 21, 2023 — John and Gail Wadsworth have given a lead gift of $1.5 million to Wichita State University and Shocker Athletics, earmarked for the Softball Team Operations Facility at Wilkins Stadium. The building is a part of the $9.65 million Phase 1 of the stadium renovation plan, which will begin development in the spring of 2024.

Sept. 11, 2023 — Wichita State University is holding a parade next month and is inviting anyone in the community to join in. Starting at 6 p.m. Oct. 6 on the WSU campus, the parade is part of the university’s annual Shocktoberfest celebration.

May 4, 2023 - Orel Ovil came to Wichita State University from Israel to play tennis and study in the W. Frank Barton School of Business in 2018. He is one of 10 students to earn Senior Honor recognition, the highest honor awarded to WSU students who demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, involvement and service to WSU and the surrounding community.

May 3, 2023 — Wichita State University’s Gateway to IP applied learning program gives students the opportunity to learn about a career as a patent agent. Rob Gerlach from the Office of Tech Transfer created the program “with the purpose being to increase Wichita’s IP IQ.”

May 3, 2023 — Mary Elizabeth Thornton is ready to put her education at Wichita State University into practice and begin teaching mathematics to middle school students in North Carolina.

May 1, 2023 — In the most recent graduate school rankings from U.S. News & World Report, Wichita State University’s College of Engineering continued its steady ascent, landing in the 47th spot for the 2023-24 academic year. Additionally, the College of Health Profession’s physician associate program is debuting in the rankings at No. 65.

May 1, 2023 — Jesús Nogués came to Wichita State University from Paraguay because of the university's reputation for industry partnerships and applied learning. He was not disappointed.

May 1, 2023 — As a designer, Wichita State's website was what caught Oluwasayo Benjamin Adekalu's eye and brought him to Wichita from Nigeria. As a student, he's learned how to hone his creative skills into building marketable products through the College of Innovation and Design.

April 27, 2023 — Ayshea Banes has only just begun her educational career as she plans to pursue her doctorate after graduating from Wichita State University.

April 21, 2023 — Angel Dao used her time at Wichita State to develop professionally and make connections within the industry she plans to pursue while finding time to care of her mental health.
